Intern
Fernanda Angulo-Aguilar was born in Milwaukee and raised by Mexican parents. She is a first-generation student at Marquette University double majoring in Criminology and Law Studies and Spanish for the Health Professions. Fernanda was inducted into the National Hispanic Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi, her sophomore year. She is currently a senior and now the president of Sigma Delta Pi.
After witnessing the numerous barriers her parents faced in this country, Fernanda developed a passion for helping the Hispanic and Latinx community. Her junior year she worked as a research assistant for Dr. Kristin Haglund in her study on how family participation in community-based programs affects children’s resilience.
Once she graduates, she plans to work as a probation or parole officer and assist vulnerable populations by helping them reintegrate into society. She would like to attend law school in the future.
In her free time, Fernanda enjoys spending time with family, friends and her cat named Coffee. She loves listening to true crime podcasts, reading, traveling, shopping and exploring new restaurants.
