Daniel Gutierrez

Paralegal

Daniel was born in Toluca, Mexico to hard-working immigrant parents. He is a DACA recipient double majoring in Spanish and Political Science. His work is driven by a desire to make a positive impact by uplifting others, especially in the immigrant community in Milwaukee, WI where he resides. Daniel’s dream is to become an immigration attorney and continue advocating for the rights of those who come to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream.

In 2019, Daniel co-founded Empowering Citizens (Empoderando Ciudadanos), a community organization that empowers the immigrant community by providing them with the tools and resources needed to navigate the complex immigration system with a focus on getting individuals ready for their citizenship test and connecting them with trusted immigration attorneys.

While at Cardinal Stritch University, Daniel played a lead role in organizing events on campus to better inform students, faculty, and staff regarding changes and resources available for DACA and undocumented students. He served as the co-president of the University’s Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee Student Chapter, a role that allowed him to encourage many students to connect with mentors, find internships, and participate in networking and volunteer opportunities.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends and is a beginner Aztec dancer with Ometochtli Mexican Folk Dance group.
